Dance Auditions

LOKO holds dance team auditions every Fall and Spring semester. Review the following timeline and FAQs down below for more information!

Fall 2024 Recruitment

The Audition Process

Learn

During one of the two learning days*, you will learn 30-40 seconds of choreography. Within the 2 hours, feel free to ask any questions to clarify or go over moves again!

Coming to learning day does NOT mean you are required to audition.  If you want to come to learning day just to learn new choreography, that's fine!

* You must attend ONE and ONLY ONE learning day to audition

Audition

On audition day, we’ll ask you to perform the audition piece in small groups**. After all the groups have gone, you can also showcase your personal style by performing an optional piece (1-minute maximum) to a song of your choice.

After the audition, if you passed, we will notify you and you will have a few days to decide to commit!

** Everyone must come at the start unless time conflicts have been communicated to us beforehand

FAQs

Have more questions?

  • Ask clarifying questions during the learning days, use the dance spaces on campus, be confident and have fun during the audition, and remember that we don't expect the audition piece to be perfect!

  • The optional piece is usually pre-learned and 1 minute maximum. It can be a cover, your own choreography, or a piece you've learned in the past. Essentially, it's a dance that you prepare on your own to show us you dance capabilities and strengths!

The optional piece can only boost you and you will not be penalized for not doing an optional piece.
